Just a quick little one today. In fact a my littlest one.
I saw the Frida Dress pattern sitting by the till when I was buying something else at Guthrie and Ghani and on a whim I whisked it up and plonked it down on the counter. I’m not really an impulse buyer when it comes to patterns but something about it’s neat packaging and probably the fact that it ranges from 6 months to 12 years called to me. That was in the summer and finally in going through my stash over the past few weeks I realised I had a scrap of this material left over that would work perfectly.
I had to really squeeze this out of a tiny amount of fabric and in the end I took about 3/4inch off the bottom of the pattern to fit everything on! Once cut out it took no time at all to whip up and is a simple and satisfying sew.
This is the first pattern I’ve made from Two Stitches, although there are a few more on their website that I have my eye on (this and this for instance). I found the packaging neat and smart, the instructions clear and well presented and the finished result I love!
I didn’t actually measure before going for a size (which, clearly is not wise….) but Ivy is a fairly average sized 2 year old so I thought I’d go for that. When I tried it on her it was slightly too big so I took it in by about half an inch in total at the side seams and I think it’s pretty good fit with a bit of growing space.
Luckily it was a bright morning the first day she wore this but trying to get photos of her standing still was almost an impossibility. She loved the excuse to have a run around outside and every now and then she sidled up to me and asked to see her pictures. She is definitely not camera shy this one.
Not much left to say, except that there will be more!
