Sewing with knits

Papercut Saiph Tunic x 2

You get two for the price of one today! My two rather different Saiph Tunics from Papercut Patterns. Despite my best intentions it’s rare that I use a pattern more than once. I think it’s because I’m still learning about what suits my body shape as well as my style and of course being side tracked every time I see a new pattern release….! I tend to prioritise the ‘new’ rather than working on fit and finding that tried-and-tested, works-every-time pattern. I am hoping with this one that I will keep tweaking as I find the relaxed style very ‘me’ and I can see it as something I could adapt to wear in any season. I fell for this pattern when I saw Helena’s version over on Gray all Day made in a beautiful double gauze (I also fell for her moto jacket and may have treated myself that pattern […]

Grainline love and a Hemlock Tee

Long time no blog! I can’t believe that the last time I posted was back in August… feels like an age ago. A lot has happened in the past 6 weeks including starting back at work in a new job. After 4 years of being at home with the kiddos this has been a big shift for the whole family. I have rather jealously guarded sewing as essential down time – but blogging has really taken a back seat as we all get used to the new routine of life!¬†Hopefully I should be back a bit more now with A LOT to fill you guys in on. Namely a wedding outfit I made in the summer, fabric picks and sewing plans following SewBrum, a finished knit for my husband, a winter coat for my daughter and a bit of a Grainline love affair – which starts us off today. I […]

Moneta Dress – Colette Patterns 3

Two blog posts in one week!? I know crazy eh! I have been making so much recently¬†that blogging has fallen behind and I wanted to catch you up a bit. This one is a simple one – yep I have jumped onto the Moneta bandwagon. And what a wagon it is. I’ve been eyeing up the many different versions that have been cropping up on my instagram feed… My slight hesitance in going for this pattern is that I wasn’t sure I wanted anything too clingy around my tummy. And I’m never entirely convinced about waisted dresses on me. But then this fabric arrived. I did a big order at fabworks back in the spring for both me and my mum. This fabric was part of her order and when it arrived I had major fabric envy. I loved the big bold floral design and the texture of the fabric […]

Willow Dress

A little make to share with you today. Little and cute with golden ringlets. This is the Willow Dress and is Anna’s new favourite piece of clothing. Before the holiday I was so immersed in sewing for myself that my girls haven’t had a look in. I’ve had the fabric picked out to make this since March and finally it has made it out of my imagination and into reality. These photos were taken at a little farm on the first warm day in ages. With animals an adventure park and ice creams this dress was put through it’s paces on it’s first outing! Back in February I discovered Sara over at ‘Made by Sara‘ through the wonder that is Instagram. I love getting inspiration for kids clothes through other peoples creativity and seeing what patterns are available out there (true to form just had a quick visit and yet […]
